Comments & Moderation

Here’s the thing: I like discussion and I like free speech. Ideas and contributions are precious to me. But I see that some ground rules are in order, just so nobody gets a case of the butt when their comments remain unpublished or are edited. I like parlay, and as long as we’re all adults, I don’t see anything wrong with healthy debate. So I’ll publish comments that disagree – that’s fine. But even though I may be president of my local non-sequitur club, I like to stay on topic, for the most part.

So, if, for example, I post about Al Sharpton, and you comment about black people not voting Republican, you’re not getting anything out of me. Those things might be peripherally related, but it’s not enough for me to go there.

And that leads me to another suggestion, if you’re looking for an actual argument, move along lil doggy, this ain’t the place. To be frank, I don’t care enough to battle it out with someone who’s just looking for a fight. So, according to my prerogative, I may or may not publish your comment. Or it may be edited to look something like this:
“I came here looking for a fight and got busted. If I was smarter, I would’ve kept my dumb@ss quiet while the grown folks were talking.”

Cursing is not welcome here. I don’t think exposition on this is necessary.

Defamation of a particular group, especially racist/sexist/homophobic language will also NOT be tolerated.

And finally, I reserve the right to add rules at whatever time I see they are needed. I maintain final veto power on every aspect of this blog, as it is my own lil queendom. I’m drunk with power, if you will.

ADDENDUM: To continue with the ‘drunk with power’ motif, be warned that all comments and emails become fair game for a future post – at least topically. If you violate any of the above rules, you give me permission to quote your tripe in the interest of spotlighting it. If you’re a law-abiding citizen in my universe, I won’t quote you or use your name without permission.

Update – In order to deal with the somewhat unfortunate popularity of this post and the ensuing theme of the comments, I am restating that cursing is not welcome.  Particularly repeated name-calling.
